So you have no doubt heard about the untimely demise of Denver’s Blackout Pact. I was bummed to see the way things went down as it is always exciting to see a band from Colorado getting on great tours and doing really cool things.
The breakup left the band with a ton of extra merch in the way of t-shirts and skateboard decks and a debt of around $2000 which they owe to their merch company. I told Justin, of the Blackout Pact, that we would happily try to help him sell some of the shirts to pay off some of that debt.
And for a limited time, you will get a free Blackout Pact Mix CD which was compiled by Justin. The comp has tracks that they often listened to on while on the road and includes tracks by Lawrence Arms, Converge, Cursive, Botch, Isis, Hot Water Music, Planes Mistaken for Stars, the Draft, Every Time I Die, Lagwagon, Pinback and more. Click the link to the sampler and you can read a little description of the tracks that Justin decided to choose.
A tip when trying to search through the store for the Blackout Pact shirts. It is easiest if you search by t-shirt size, for example search for “Blackout Pact Small” and it will pull up all of the shirts we have available in size small. Here are some links to help you out:

When you speak, we at Suburban Home listen. There were a number of you that had asked if you could order individual pint glasses and although we originally wanted to keep the glasses available as complete sets, we have decided to also offer them individually. We still recommend order complete sets as it is less expensive and keeps the set intact, but we realize that there are some of you that would just love to buy multiple glasses of certain artists. Here are the links for the individual pint glasses:

COMMUNIQUE “Walk Into The Light” CD
Hailing from Oakland, California, CONNUNIQUE is guitarist/songwriter RORY HENDERSON, bassist JOHN PECK, guitarist RYAN MASSEY, drummer JAMIE KISSINGER, and keyboardist STEVE LOEWINSOHN. The band’s newest release is Walk Into the Light, is an EP that not only showcases the dark lyrics, intricate layering, and transcendent melodies that have become Communiqué’s trademark, but also serves as the culmination of a musical campaign that began years ago in the band’s punk roots with AMERICAN STEEL.

NEWSOM, JOANNA “Ys” CD
Joanna Newsom’s voice–a piercing flutter that’s pitched somewhere between Björk and a hand brake–is an acquired taste. But to the uninitiated, it’s not nearly as impenetrable as her cosmic poetry or, for that matter, baroque music. The 24-year-old Californian harpist’s second album is a five-track concept piece loosely based on its namesake, the mythological drowned city of the Bretons. We say “loosely” because she leaves plenty of room for digressions on meteoroids and birds flying into windows. While Ys was recorded by minimalist Steve Albini (Nirvana, PJ Harvey), it includes lush string arrangements by Van Dyke Parks (Brian Wilson) and the final mix was done by sonic experimentalist Jim O’Rourke (Sonic Youth, Tortoise). The result is an album that sounds unlike anything else. And despite containing spectacularly beguiling songs that stretch out past 15 minutes, every second seems to drip with magic. You certainly don’t get that with Ashlee Simpson. –Aidin Vaziri

SUFJAN STEVENS “Songs For Christmas” 5XCD
n December 2001, Sufjan set out to create a Christmas gift for his friends and family. The result was a seven-song recording that he called “Noel Vol. 1″. Over the next several years, he created new EPs to add to the collection. This 5-CD box set includes all five volumes, plus a 42-page booklet with an original Christmas essay by acclaimed American novelist Ricky Moody, two essays, a short story by Stevens, a holiday sticker, chord charts, lyrics, comic strip, family portrait poster, photos, and an animated video.

TOM WAITS “Orphans” 3XCD
This collection goes far beyond a simple career retrospective, with over thirty new songs, from his own versions of songs he gave to other artists to things recorded in the garage with his kids. Also includes Tom’s unique interpretations of songs by such diverse talents as The Ramones, Daniel Johnston, Kurt Weill & Bertolt Brecht, and Leadbelly. Each of the three CDs is separately grouped and sub-titled “Brawlers”, “Bawlers” and “Bastards” to capture the full spectrum of Waits’ ranging and roving musical styles. “Brawlers” is chock full of raucous blues and full-throated juke-joint stomp, “Bawlers” contains Celtic and country ballads, waltzes, lullabies, piano, and classic lyrical Waits’ songs, while “Bastards” is filled with experimental music, stories, and jokes. The beautifully designed booklet reproduces Tom’s lyrics in the style of a book of old poetry, with twenty pages of never before seen photos. The limited edition deluxe package contains a hardcover-bound 94-page booklet.
