The Future of Suburban Home, Vinyl Collective, and Dead Format

We just sent out a statement about the future of Suburban Home, Vinyl Collective, and Dead Format. I figured that those of you who frequent Dead Format should know what is going on. The statement is rather lengthy so click the link if you have the time to read on.

Drag the River “Chicken Demos” pre-order / Get “Live at the Starlight” for free

DRAG THE RIVER “Chicken Demos” CD

“Chicken Demos” represents the 3rd and final re-release of Drag the River’s first three albums originally released by Upland Records. The odd thing about this album is that the songs were recorded during the same session that the songs from “Hobo’s Demos” were. Jon and Chad selected the songs that made “Hobo’s” thinking that at the time they were far superior to the other songs. After time had passed, they revisited the remaining songs and were surprised that those songs were just as good if not better. They assembled the songs into this album and the resulting album is anything but leftovers. Some of my favorite Drag songs are on this album and many make Drag’s set list night after night. Picking a favorite Drag the River album though is like asking a parent who their favorite sibling is, they are all amazing and all quite unique. If you don’t already own this album, this is absolutely essential.

The first 50 pre-orders will also receive a copy of Drag the River’s “Live at the Starlight” double CD. I noticed we had an extra box of promos of this release and thought why not give it as an added bonus to those who order “Chicken Demos”.

Drag the River beer cozies available for sale

Drag The River Beer Cozie

We originally gave these away with a pre-order we had set up a little while ago. We had some laying around so we thought we would share them to the folks who never got one. No Drag the River fan should go without one of these Beer Cozies. Not only does it keep beer colder longer, it collapses to fit into your back pocket for easy portability. You will be the hit of every party when you have your Drag the River beer cozie!

Rocky Votolato / Drag the River tour posters plus other posters

Rocky Votolato / Drag the River tour Poster

To help promote the big tour Drag the River are doing with Rocky Votolato, we made some tour posters featuring both bands. As you can see the poster looks super slick. Our good buddy, Brandon Proff, who is working at Equal Vision designed the poster. The posters are 11 x 17. The posters will come folded unless you add a poster tube to your cart.

We have also added album posters for Drag the River, Tim Barry, Love Me Destroyer, and Ghost Buffalo which we have never sold on our site before.

10 for 10 and 20 for 20 Magazine CD DVD sale

10 for 10 Magazine CD DVD sale

20 for 20 Magazine CD DVD sale

Much like our 25 for 25 and 50 for 50 CD sale, we were inspired to do a big spring cleaning sale with the magazines that are taking up way too much space at Suburban Home headquarters. This sale will include 10 or 20 Magazines that also contain free CD samplers and we will, while supplies last, throw in copies of Amp Magazine Video Archive volumes 1 and 2. So for those keeping count, you get 10 or 20 Magazines, 10 or 20 CDs, and 2 DVDs all for the very low price of $10.00. US orders can use the $3.00 for unlimited shipping for quite the steal. International orders unfortunately have to pay quite a bit to ship these magazines as this order weighs 10 or 20 pounds.

The magazines included in this sale will be selected by your friends at Suburban Home but will include issues of Amp Magazine, Loud Fast Rules, Law of Inertia, and Hails and Horns. These are great magazines that will provide you with hours of reading and listening. You can email info@suburbanhomerecords.com if there are certain issues that you already own, but please do not request issues as most of these orders will be put together ahead of time.

50 CDs for $50, 25 CDs for $25 Sales

Suburban Home 25 for 25 sale

Suburban Home 50 for 50 sale

Inspired by a sale that our friend Mike Park of Asian Man Records did, we have decided to post a couple of absolutely ridiculous sales. The sales are pretty simple, you pay $50 and you get 50 CDs, you pay $25 and you get 25 CDs. We pick the CDs, but we promise that you will get an incredible mix of Punk, Indie Rock, Hardcore, Emo, and Alt-Country. The reason we are doing this sale is because over the past 11 years, we have accumulated quite a bit of stock and our office is full of boxes.

The life of a release pretty much peaks during the title’s shipout and its success is dependent on the activity of each band. When a band breaks up or slows down, the title usually does too. That doesn’t mean that the title is a lesser release, it just means the band’s momentum comes to a halt and most music fans aren’t actively picking up these titles. This is a perfect sale for someone looking to find out about new artists that they may have never heard and are looking for a bargain. My goal with this sale is to give a little bit of life to a handful of releases that maybe never got their just dues. Most of the acts represented incredible potential that for one reason or another didn’t quite make it not because they weren’t great, but because of any number of factors that cause incredible bands to stop playing. I guarantee that you will find many new releases that make it into your musical rotation and I also promise that you can expect at least one title from each of the following bands: The Gamits, The Queers, Against All Authority, The Rise, Ghost Buffalo, Laymen Terms, Kane Hodder, Honor System, Adventures of Jet, and Cadillac Blindside. I also promise that you can expect the following compilations: Broken Lamps 2, Amp Hardcore and Amp Metal, Jawbreaker Tribute, Green Day Tribute, and No Fi Trash.

The above photo is a sample of what you can expect from a 50 for 50 sale. If you were to purchase each title individually, you would pay over $500.00. Help us by helping yourself to a ton of new music. This sale will only go on for about a month or until we run out of CDs, whichever one comes first.
