10 Compilation CDs for $10.00 Sale

The Cheapo CD sampler quickly rose to power during the mid 90’s. Labels like Fat, Epitaph, Victory, Asian Man, and Hopeless were well known by their branded cheapo sampler as it was the best way to find out about new acts. Even labels like Suburban Home got in on the craze and at one time, we sold quite a few compilation CDs. We had a series called Playing 4 Square which I thought was a pretty cool idea as it was a 4 way label sampler featuring tracks from 4 up and coming indie labels. The 3 volumes we did featured tracks from acts as varied as Lagwagon, New Found Glory, Jealous Sound, No Knife, Communique, Ted Leo and the Pharmicists, Rx Bandits, Rainer Maria, The STarting Line, Brackit, Armchair Martian, and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes all made appearances on the series.

Fast forward to 2007 and compilation CDs just don’t have the same power they once did. With myspace and mp3s on label sites, you can find out about bands very easily. But trust me when I say that in the mid to late 90’s you would look forward to new compilation CDs as it was assured that you would find a song by a band you have never heard and that would inspire you to find their release.

Suburban Home Pick 5 CDs for $25 Sale

It is harder now trying to sell compact discs than it has ever been. Running a label in the post-file sharing world is not an easy task. There are entire generations of music fans that don’t consider music to have any monetary cost. Where will that leave labels like Suburban Home in the future? Anyone’s guess is as good as mine, but while Suburban Home still has some life in it, it only makes sense to attempt to adapt considering the current market conditions. We have always tried to have an inexpensive option to purchase our music and if you were to order any Suburban Home full length directly from us, you will never pay more that $8.99.

Although we consider this to be a rather good deal, we realize that it is impossible to compete with FREE. This sale will include 10 or 20 Magazines that also contain free CD samplers and we will, while supplies last, throw in copies of Amp Magazine Video Archive volumes 1 and 2. Inspired by a sale that our friend Mike Park of Asian Man Records did, we have decided to post a couple of absolutely ridiculous sales. The sales are pretty simple, you pay $50 and you get 50 CDs, you pay $25 and you get 25 CDs. We pick the CDs, but we promise that you will get an incredible mix of Punk, Indie Rock, Hardcore, Emo, and Alt-Country. The reason we are doing this sale is because over the past 11 years, we have accumulated quite a bit of stock and our office is full of boxes.

The life of a release pretty much peaks during the title’s shipout and its success is dependent on the activity of each band. When a band breaks up or slows down, the title usually does too. That doesn’t mean that the title is a lesser release, it just means the band’s momentum comes to a halt and most music fans aren’t actively picking up these titles. This is a perfect sale for someone looking to find out about new artists that they may have never heard and are looking for a bargain. My goal with this sale is to give a little bit of life to a handful of releases that maybe never got their just dues.
