Dear Friends and Fellow Musicians,
Hello there! My name is Marshall, I work for a company called Dead Format. We’re basically just the distribution side of Suburban Home Records, an established independent record label based out of Denver. Suburban Home has been around for just over 11 years, and we’re excited to finally offer you, the aspiring independent artist, the ability to sell your records through Dead Format.com. Here’s the lowdown.
All you need to do is fill out the form posted at this link, email it to us, and we will have you send us five commercial copies of your CD, which we will sell on consignment. We also request that you send a promo. We will pay you and reorder your CDs monthly based on your record sales. If you’re interested, we can also offer your music through iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster and various other digital music sites for a small distribution fee. If all goes well and your records sell extremely well, there are options for wider, potentially national distribution through Suburban Home.
I’m excited about this, because it offers independent bands an outlet to sell their music online, as opposed to solely at shows. It’s convenient (especially for locals), and you don’t risk anything. On top of that, our distribution is non-exclusive, so you can sell your stuff through as many other people as you want besides us. I’m in a band myself, and believe me when I say that you have only to gain from this.
If you’re interested, fill out the form on either of our sites and email it to me at marshall@suburbanhomerecords.com. I’ll be in touch with you personally from there, and we’ll get things rolling. Thanks so much!
Cheers,
Marshall Gallagher
